 Tracks of My Years, 2013

Following on from his successful ‘Cast of Thousands’ in 2002, the author brings you up to date with more tales from chasing the Westerns, starting in the year of his birth and going right through until the end of the Westerns. The book tells of one man’s devotion to a locomotive fleet and his race against time to photograph and ride behind as many of the class as possible before they all went to the scrapyard. Laced with tales from his life growing up in Lincolnshire and encompassing his love for Lincoln City and Tottenham as well as those guitar crunching glam rockers, Slade, the book is an emotive look back to a time when the world was a much more easy-paced affair. The story of how he and fellow enthusiast Ian ‘Nog’ Norledge found themselves marooned at Par after failing to realise they could miss their return special back home is worth a chuckle or two at their expense. But the book sums up a period when the author and many like-minded enthusiasts set about charting the last of the class, knowing full well that at some point they would have to say goodbye to something that had been a way of life for all of them. Perfect for a film don’t you think? Watch this space! This book is still available, printed to order, so why not contact Track Record Press for details?
