The end for D1009 Western Invader on TOPS. She was withdrawn on November 10, at 11am, once again the letters ‘FOR’ were given as the reason, which is TOPS code for ‘Written Off’. Actual withdrawal reason was given as a broken bogie spring! The 7B18 denotes she arrived off the 03.45 STJ-Plymouth Friary from Exeter Riverside and had a ‘No Heat’ restriction.
D1009 WESTERN INVADER 1976 KNOWN WORKINGS DATABASE
Update August 6, 1976, thanks to Stephen Parker of Bristol who writes: “After arriving at Temple Meads on the 1M77 17.45 Penzance-Manchester, D1009 went straight onto another set of stock and worked over to Cardiff on the 2C60 23.08 Bristol-Cardiff, which I jumped on for the short but very enjoyable 1.5 miles to Stapleton Road.” I am indebted to Stephen for his help and August 6 now duly corrected.
