How close D1013 Western Ranger came to being withdrawn in April 1976 after colliding with D1030 Western Musketeer at Laira Depot, Plymouth, can be seen in this TOPS print out of the time. The locomotive was to be scrapped as shown here but the decision was made to withdraw D1030 instead and the railtour engine lived to fight another day. The ‘FOR’ denotes the TOPS code for ‘Written Off’.
