How D1015 Western Champion was withdrawn s shown on TOPS. The locomotive had been derailed at Castle Cary downside yard on December 9, 1976. She was sent to Westbury light engine for examination and was restricted to freight working only with a 60mph speed limit imposed. On the 11th, she was towed by 47032 and 50032 from Westbury to Laira for attention to the derailment damage but was withdrawn at 10am on the 13th. TOPS still showed it as ‘Written Off’.
