Westerns Volume Three, 2019
The final book in this trilogy has been a long time coming but worth the wait. The author aided by members of the Western Locomotive Research Society and Paul Robinson, have together a superb book detailing what happened to each member of the class after their withdrawal from service on British Railways. Inevitably, for many of the fleet, they ended-up in the con yard at Swindon where the cutter’s torch did its job swiftly, But each locomotive’s demise is listed here in what can only be described as a fitting end to the trilogy. Put together with typically exacting detail and research, the book is one of the last to come off the author’s A4-sized production line. While it has taken a number of years to produce, due to various events, including ill health and getting the best out of 50-year-old prints, this book will be another fine addition to the shelves of Class 52 enthusiasts.
